降钙素原(Procalcitonin, PCT)是一种广泛应用于细菌感染诊断的生物标志物它由甲状腺C细胞产生，在身体正常的健康人血液中浓度极低(< 0.05 ng/mL)然而，在炎症反应中，特别是由细菌感染引起的炎症反应中，各种组织和细胞可以产生PCT并将其释放到血液中。血清PCT水平在细菌感染时升高，但在病毒感染和非特异性炎症性疾病时通常保持低水平。因此，血清PCT被认为是细菌感染的重要生物标志物。
